"If you want to end war, you've got to sing loud"

Remember that line from Arlo Guthrie's ALICE'S RESTAURANT?

I've been getting calls from family members asking me to postpone my trip. Just a few weeks ago, my cousin told me she'd been trying to decide whether to worry about me and finally decided that it probably wasn't my destiny to be killed in Israel. But then a couple of days ago she emailed me:

I want you to reconsider your trip to Israel. I debated about bringing it up. But the more I've thought about the more concerned I've become. Go somewhere else interesting.

We've just given our crazy president unlimited powers to wage war and there is no one in the middle east (maybe the whole world) who likes us.

I know you've made plans, but plans can be changed. Please think about it.

We'll see. I hope we don't invade Iraq. Things could get so ugly in the region.

But I've got it in mind to sing my little song. My song of Israel.
